Swamp Snappers Photography Exhibit

From the Great Swamp Conservancy, the Swamp Snappers Camera Club will show the best of their members’ photography in the Oneida Library’s Meeting Room from May 5 through May 30.

Toni McEniry, outreach specialist for ARISE, will be available to provide information and references for those concerned about breast cancer.

After School Crafts: Paper, Paint and Petals

Tuesday at 4 p.m.

Youth librarian Michele Ryan teaches elementary-school students the tricky craft of making blooming flowers out of paper and painting them imaginatively. Supplies are provided.

Wednesday from 9 to 11 a.m.

Volunteer tech advisors will be on hand to help users set up and adapt their devices, from iPads to tablets to smart phones. No appointment is needed.

My Father in the 463rd Bomber Group

Saturday at 2 p.m.

Rob Kinsella tells in words and pictures the amazing story of his father, George R. Kinsella, when in May 1944 Germans shot his bomber down over Slovenia. He survived to be taken up by Marshall Tito’s partisans and, after many close calls, he was eventually rescued by British forces.

AARP’S Driver Safety Program

Monday and Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

A classroom defensive driver course for those over 50 years of age. To register, call Bob Fish at 363-0455.

Painting with Pastels

Wednesday at 9 a.m.

Artist Carol Cotten takes her students outdoors “en plein aire” to scenic local sites to learn the techniques of painting pastels directly from nature. The four-session class meets Wednesdays, 9-11 a.m., May 14, 21, 28 and June 4. The class is free, but pre-registration is required. Students should sign up at the Oneida Library desk and at that time may order pastel painting materials at cost.

David Muth of Mohawk Valley Community Action Agency gives no-cost, energy-conservation tips to cut home electricity and fuel consumption. Participants get a free set of energy-efficient light bulbs. Pre-registration at the Oneida Library desk required.
