T-07-2014 mccmc (EOH Six Winners - CORRECTED) (1)(Earlville, NY- May 2014) Here are the exciting results! The Earlville Opera House organized the 2014 Congressional Art Competition, An Artistic Discovery for Madison County on behalf of Congressman Richard Hanna’s office.

Invitations were sent to 10 schools. EOH received 73 submissions from four schools: Hamilton Central High, Morrisville-Eaton High, Oneida High and Sherburne-Earlville High School.

This is the first year that Madison County schools were represented in this national contest.

Lynette Stephenson is an associate professor of art and art history at Colgate University. Leigh Yardley is an adjunct instructor of art at Morrisville State College and a teaching artist for the Utica Arts in Education Institute.

Medal winners from Madison County – alphabetically by school – were:

T-07-2014 mccmc (EOH Six Winners - CORRECTED) (3)Hannah Farrell and Elena Haskins, both seniors from Hamilton Central School and students of Ashley Stagner; Laura Konieczko, Morrisville-Eaton High School senior, a student of Karen Howlett; Hannah Westbrook, a senior, and Madeline DuBois, a junior, from Sherburne-Earlville High School, both students of Jackie Craine Gimson; and Joseph Rondinelli, an Oneida Central School junior and student of Heather Cigeroglu.

The next round of judging will be at Munson-Williams-Proctor Arts Institute at 310 Genesee St., Utica, for all the counties in Hanna’s District with an exhibition Saturday, May 3.
