Sixth annual event takes off Aug. 2 in town of Nelson

(Town of Nelson, NY – July 2014) You read it right— it’s the annual Mad Cow!

In Your Pace Running Club would like to invite you to the 6th annual Mad Cow 5K Race, a Route 20 Road Challenge Event, taking place in Nelson on Saturday Aug. 2 at 9 a.m.

The 5K (3.1 mile) run/walk will take participants through the heart of cow country in the Nelson dairy region.  The 5K race is In Your Pace’s ode to the rich history of the Holstein cow and Madison County, which (also historically) has been lovingly abbreviated to Mad. Co. (Mad Cow—get it!?).  But it isn’t all about the cows.

In Your Pace Running Club is an informal group of friends consisting of fun-loving and charitable recreational runners of all ages, sizes and athletic abilities.  The bighearted group will donate race proceeds to Community Action Partnership, a local non-profit that helps individuals and families in Madison County become and remain self-sufficient.  Last year, the event raised $3,000 for CAP.

“It’s a fun race and a good way to support local charities.” Said Dick Benner from In Your Pace Running Club.

With a lucky runner drawing, raffle drawing and awards to top male and female finishers by age group, the event will be a good time for a good cause.  Just watch your step—the Holsteins are still here!

The race starts at 9 a.m. from the town of Nelson offices, one quarter mile north of Route 20 on Nelson Road.

Pre-registration must be received by July 22 ($15 under 17 years, $20 adult).  Entry forms and waivers are available at www.inyourpace.org and online registration available at www.GetEntered.com. Race day registration is ($25 everyone) from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m.

Shirts guaranteed to all pre-registered runners and distributed as available on race day.  No dogs or strollers are permitted at the event.  The event is a USA Track & Field 2013 Sanctioned Event.
