(Hamilton, NY – Sept. 2014) Do you have a passion for libraries and the delivery of outstanding services? Do you enjoy working with the public and as part of a team? The Hamilton Public Library has a vacancy for a part-time library aide, serving in the role of library clerk.

We are pleased to invite the community to a special reception celebrating the artwork of local painter Katherine Stillwaggon from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20. Refreshments will be provided by the Friends of the Library.

This exhibition is titled Estelle’s Flowers in honor of Stillwaggon’s youngest daughter Estelle Kinsella who died last year from breast cancer; Stillwaggon’s paintings will be on display at the library until Oct. 31.

The Harry Potter series, The Giver, To Kill A Mockingbird, Catcher in the Rye – are these some of your favorites? Are you opposed to censorship? Would you like to help celebrate each individual’s right to read whatever they so choose?

The Hamilton Public Library and the Colgate Bookstore are gearing up for this year’s Banned Books Week event, the “Showcase of Suspicious Stories.” The event will be held at the library at 6:30 p.m. Sept 24 and is open to the public.

Refreshments will be provided by the Friends of the Library. The evening promises to be entertaining and informative. We hope you can join us in this local celebration as part of the American Library Association’s annual Banned Book Week.

Hilary Virgil is director of the Hamilton Public Library.
