Wednesday from 9 to 11 a.m.

Wednesday at 10 a.m.

This is an early-literacy program of songs, play, crafts and stories that will help children from birth through two years old to develop pre-reading skills.

Ready, Set, Read: Puppy Dog Tales

Thursday at 10 a.m.

Children aged 3-4 will enjoy stories, songs, crafts and reading to their canine guests from Wanderers’ Rest Humane Society.

 

October 7 and 8

AARP’S Driver Safety Program

Tuesday and Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

A classroom defensive driver course for those over 50 years of age. To register, call Bob Fish at 363-0455.

Tuesday at 7 p.m.

As the World War I Centennial begins, the OPL hosts a special adult reading and discussion group on the history and literature of the “War To End All Wars” sponsored by the New York Council for the Humanities. Pre-registration is required.

Feminist and Adirondack resident tells of her long quest for equality in the workplace and fulfillment in life as chronicled in her recently published memoir “And I Know Too Much To Pretend.” Copies of her book will be available for purchase and signing by the author.

Oneida Public Library will be closed Monday, September 1, to celebrate Columbus Day (observed). The library will be open as usual on Tuesday, October 14, at 9 a.m.

Part Broadway musical, part opera, George Gershwin’s “Porgy and Bess” is expertly brought to film (1993) by British director Trevor Nunn and sung to perfection by Willard White (Porgy), Cynthia Haymon (Bess) and members of the Glyndebourne Opera company. Free showing on the OPL wide screen. Refreshments served.

Preschoolers’ Hallowe’en Party

As a special treat for preschoolers, the OPL brings the Good Witch Elaine Clark to host the Bell, Book and Candy Hallowe’en Party, at which children can dress up in their costumes, share a spooky story and hunt for hidden treasure.
