(Morrisville, NY – Sept. 29, 2014) The New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) announced its Football Players of the Week, recognizing three Morrisville State Mustangs for their efforts in the conference win over Cortland on Saturday.

JohnsonL14Senior quarterback Lemar Johnson (Ossining, N.Y.) was named the conference’s Offensive Player of the Week for a second time this season after leading the Mustangs to a 38-31 defeat of Cortland in the first conference contest played this season. In the game, he completed 19-of-39 passes for 244 yards and four touchdown throwing strikes of 3, 53, 37, and 4 yards apiece. He also averaged 6.7 yards per rush with a team high 140 yards rushing on 21 carries. In total, Johnson accounted for 384 of Morrisville State’s 495 yards total offense.

The graduate of Ossining High is majoring in criminal justice at Morrisville State. He is the son of Esther Barrett of Ossining.

Junior linebacker Delroy Young (Bringhamton, N.Y.) became the third different Mustang to take home NJAC Defensive Player of the Week honors this season, assisting Morrisville State to its first victory over Cortland in program history. He recorded a career-high 15 tackles on the day, eight of which were solo stops. Along the way, Young added a sack in the victory which improved the Mustangs overall record to 3-1 on the season, and 1-0 in conference action.

YoungD14DeeseA14 Young currently ranks tied for third in the NJAC in tackles (10.0 per game). He is a graduate of Binghamton High and is majoring in technology management – resort and recreation management at Morrisville. Young is the son of Tracy Young and Hilton Whilby of Binghamton.

Freshman corner Anthony Deese (Brooklyn, N.Y.) earns NJAC Defensive Rookie of the Week accolades after posting four total tackles, all solo stops in his first conference game of his career. He also added a pass break up in the end zone which denied Cortland a score. Deese currently ranks tied for fifth in the NJAC in passes defended (1.0 per game).

The graduate of Grand Street Campus is majoring in business administration at Morrisville State.
