(Oneida, NY – Oct. 2014) Fall is the season for high-school juniors and seniors and their parents to get serious about college interviews and applications, so Oneida Public Library has invited two admissions experts from Bryant & Stratton College in Syracuse to give them the inside scoop on Wednesday Oct. 15 at 6:30 p.m.
Brian Smiley and Kelly Calianese from Bryant & Stratton will provide sage advice to applicants on making the best impression both in the application process and in the fateful campus interview.
Smiley, one of the college’s high-school coordinators, will focus on social media and how a student’s use of it may have a potential impact on getting into college or landing a job. As a former high-school teacher of business and technology in the Syracuse City School District, Smiley has had long experience in advising students on college and careers.
Calianese, a senior admissions representative at the Liverpool campus of Bryant & Stratton, will talk about the importance of the college interview, in which both the interviewer and the interviewed try to figure out if the college and the applicant are a match. She will emphasize that personal appearance, deportment and articulation do matter.
The program is free and open to all area high-school juniors and seniors and their parents. For more information, stop by Oneida Library, 220 Broad St., or call 363-3050.
