(Hamilton, NY – Feb. 2015) The Randolph Caldecott Medal is awarded annually by the Association for Library Service to Children, a division of the American Library Association, to the artist of the most distinguished American picture book.  The Caldecott Medal for 2015 has been awarded to The Adventures of Beekle: The Unimaginary Friend, illustrated and written by Dan Santat.

The John Newbery Medal is also awarded annually by the Association for Library Service to Children, to the author of the most distinguished contribution to American literature for children.  The 2015 recipient of the Newbery Medal is The Crossover, written by Kwame Alexander.

Would you like to find out more about these award winners and the other honor books? Save the date: the Caldecott-Newbery Tea at the Hamilton Public Library is Saturday, April 18. In the meantime, these books may be borrowed through the Mid York Library System.

The Hamilton Public Library is pleased to host a special reception honoring our local exceptional artists on Wednesday, March 18 at 10:30 a.m. Refreshments will be provided by the Friends of the Library. Many thanks to our friends from the following organizations for arranging this wonderful opportunity: Heritage Farm; The ARC, Oneida-Lewis Chapter; Madison-Cortland ARC; Central New York DSO; ARISE; Herkimer Area Resource Center; and the Resource Center for Independent Living. The Exceptional Art exhibit will be on display at the library from Feb. 14 to March 27.

In observance of Presidents’ Day, the Hamilton Public Library will be closed on Monday, Feb. 16.  We will resume our regular business hours on Tuesday, Feb. 17.

Remember, the book drop at the front of the building is always available for your convenience. You can also renew your items online, and access all of our digital materials from home.
