(Oneida, NY – April 2015) Some of Christianity’s most significant events will be brought to life as the First Presbyterian Church of Oneida presents an interactive Holy Thursday worship service on Thursday, April 2 at 7 p.m.
The service will begin with the celebration of the Lord’ s Supper followed by a reenactment of the events that preceded Christ’s crucifixion on Good Friday.
The music, worship, poignant monologues, and historical recreations will help enlighten your soul and prepare you for the celebration of Easter – Christianity’s most significant day.
According to Virginia Drake, who has choreographed this reenactment for this special service, this format for the Holy Service remembrance began about four years ago.
“We started using actors as pantomimes to help tell the story of the events of Holy Thursday,” Drake said. “Over the past few years the service has expanded to include vocal dramatizations. The number of people who attend this service has also more than doubled during this time.”
At 10 a.m. a Special Easter Service will be delivered by Pastor Stuart Wattles.
Three trumpet players will accompany the service music providing the bright brass sound that so compliments the Spirit of Easter.
The entire community is cordially invited to both of these services.
The First Presbyterian Church of Oneida is located on the corner of Broad and Stone Streets in Oneida.
