John Salka

salka(Brookfield, NY – April 2015) John Salka, Republican supervisor of the Town of Brookfield, is announcing his bid for another two year term.  Salka, who was elected Town Supervisor in 2008 after spending seven years on the Brookfield Central School Board were he served four as president, also serves on the Madison County Board of Supervisors.

Salka stated that he will run on his record of sensible fiscal management, transparent town government, and strong representation for the citizens of the Town of Brookfield. “Since becoming Town Supervisor we have reduced the tax rate from $7.62 to $6.41 per thousand. I have negotiated a new health insurance plan for the town highway crew that will save the taxpayers almost $100,000.00 over the next three years, and our fund balance is healthy and strong.”

“We have established a capital reserve plan that will protect taxpayer’s money and give the people of the town the say over how we spend those funds. Working closely with the board and our highway superintendent we have cut the maintenance line for highways by over 50% and invested the savings in new, safe equipment that will allow for better roads and service.”

Salka claims a strong record on the county board. He chairs the committees for Planning and Economic Development and Energy. He also is a member of the Madison County Soil & Water Conservation District Board of Directors and serves as chairman of the Finance Committee for the Madison County Industrial Development Agency.

“I am honored and humbled to have the privilege of representing the citizens of the Town of Brookfield. I have worked hard to advocate for Brookfield’s share of county and state money, and have spent the past 15 years supporting our school and our town.”

“I have always run on the issues and refused to go negative. This has worked for me in the past and I will continue to present to the voters who I am and what I stand for.”

Salka, who has in the past received the endorsements of the Republican, Independence and Conservative parties, will seek support from the voters of his community this November.
