(New Woodstock, NY – May 2015) Town of Cazenovia’s Historian, New Woodstock Regional Historical Society’s Sara Chevako has donated an important source book for family research and study to the New Woodstock Free Library. The book, published by the New York Genealogical and Biographical Society, is “a definitive guidebook to the genealogical research sources of New York State,” according to its authors.
Describing herself as an “amateur genealogist” and member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Chevako was awarded the 840 page “New York Family History Research Guide and Gazetteer” by the Mid York Library System in recognition for her service as a trustee of the Mid York Board of Trustees. The book will be available for patron use at the library during all regular library hours.
Chevako is succeeded on the Mid York Library System Board of Trustees by New Woodstock Free Library Board President Charlie Shatzkin.
“This newest and most comprehensive addition to our local history and family research collection will become the essential go-to resource for genealogy and family history research,” New Woodstock Library Director Norm Parry said. “It’s a monumental work which manages to be readable and accessible to the average user.”
