Caz library(Cazenovia, NY – May 2015) The Cazenovia Public Library is collaborating with the Oneida County Health Department’s Cancer Services Program (CSP) of Oneida-Herkimer-Madison Counties to get the word out that you may qualify for free cancer screenings.

Are you 40 or older and without health insurance, or do you have insurance but a high deductible that is a barrier to your receiving some necessary medical services?  If so, CSP may be able to help you get important preventive cancer screenings….at no cost to you.

The CSP is funded by a grant from the NYS Department of Health and pays for preventive and diagnostic services for breast, cervical, and colorectal cancers.  Uninsured women 40 and older are offered routine breast cancer and cervical cancer screenings as well as colon cancer screening for men and women 50 and older. And for those with a high deductible on their insurance policy, the CSP may be able to pay for diagnostic services if the deductible has not been met.

In the case of an uninsured individual who is already diagnosed with one of these cancers, there may be cancer treatment funds available through a specialized Medicaid Cancer Treatment Program (MCTP).  Additionally, an uninsured man with prostate cancer who requires on-going treatment may also be eligible for treatment funds through the MCTP.

Available at the Cazenovia Public Library are numerous informational pamphlets and brochures on the Cancer Services Program and the important cancer screenings that are available now.  And check out the book display located near the elevator.  A World Without Cancer by Margaret Cuomo, Reduce Your Cancer Risk by Barbara Boughton and Michael Stefanek, The Mayo Clinic Breast Cancer Book, and others are available to help you take advantage of “your right to know.”

Everyone knows that screening saves lives.

Call 315-798-5248 today and sign up for your free cancer screening.
