Roger painting(New Woodstock, NY – June 2015) Husband and wife artists Roger and Naomi DeMuth of Cazenovia will exhibit their art at the New Woodstock Free Library June 8 through July 17.  There will be a reception Friday June 12 from 7 to 8:30 p.m.  The exhibit will be open for public viewing during all regular library hours.  The exhibit and the reception are free.

Naomi attended Rochester Institute of Technology, in the School for American Craftsman. She also attended the Penland School of Crafts and Syracuse University.  She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a major in textiles.

Naomi says she draws her inspiration from past cultures, lifestyles and regions. “I’m always exploring various techniques and try to adapt them to my body of work. I have recently been experimenting with the Japanese technique of Nerikomi, creating designs with colored clays,” she said.

Roger is Professor Emeritus at Syracuse University. He recently won a Gold Medal at the Society of Illustrators in New York City for his poster “Squirrels aren’t just for breakfast anymore” in the 2015 Comic and Cartoon art Exhibition.

For more than 45 years, Roger has worked with major corporations throughout the United States and Europe.  His Children’s books, the popular “Messy Bessie” series, have each won awards, including an Oppenheim Toy Book Award.

Naomi clayRoger’s works have been included in the Society of Illustrator’s 55th, 56th, and 57th National exhibitions, and the sketch book section of DestinAsia Magazine in Jakarta, Indonesia, this past June. He has several works in progress and soon to be published.

The library is open Monday-Friday 1-5 pm, Monday and Wednesday evenings from 7-9 pm, and Saturdays from 10-1 pm.   The library is also open whenever the blue library flag is displayed.
