Kallet Comedy Show(Oneida, NY – June 2015) Local comedians take over the Kallet Civic Center next Friday, June 12. Host Steve Donovan warms up the event and keeps the show on track.

Newcomer Tyler Colvin opens the show.

Colvin found comedy late in life (he’s 21) as a senior at Oneida High School.  Performing in school and summer plays he enjoyed creating characters and found playing funny characters was what he was best at.

“I grew up being a very shy person so it turned into a thrill to try to get a reaction from an audience,” Colvin said. He plans to use this event as a stepping stone for bigger audiences in the big apple.

Paula Who? (McAllister) hailing from Oneida is the events featured comedian. McAllister has performed at Funny Bones in Syracuse and shares bits of comedy about herself.

“If you can’t make fun of yourself, who can you make fun of?” she said.

McCallister also finds inspiration in her family and friends.

“I get most of my material from my family,” she said.

Rounding out the show is headliner Mike Bova.  Many may know him as the former advertising director for the Eagle Newspaper (Oneida Press).  He is also a former founding member of the Madison County Courier.

Bova’s career as a stand-up comic began when he was asked to emcee a comedy show with a semi-finalist for the popular television series, Last Comic Standing.

Bova won the Upper State Independent Comedy Award consecutively in 2012 and 2013.  He now does stand-up comedy as the headliner at clubs across New York State and the US.  His material is R rated and topical.

“I am extremely excited to see all of my old friends and colleagues in Oneida, NY.  It’s going to be a great evening at the Kallet,” Bova said.

The Kallet is heading up a Go Downtown, Grow Downtown campaign for the event. Shop Downtown Oneida businesses from now until June 12 and bring your receipt to the Kallet Comedy Show for 50 percent off of the $10 ticket price for you and your guests.  Learn how to win a reserved table for 8 at the show on the Greater Oneida Kallet Civic Center Facebook page.  Winner will be announced on June 11.
