July 1
Tech Help
Wednesday from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m.
Volunteer tech advisors will be on hand to help users set up and adapt their devices, from iPads and tablets to smart phones and laptops. No appointment is needed.
July 3 and 4
Independence Day Celebration
Friday and Saturday
Oneida Library will be closed both Friday, July 3, and Saturday, July 4, to celebrate Independence Day. The library will be open as usual on Monday, July 6, at 9 a.m.
July 6
OPL Children’s Summer Theater
Monday at 9:30 a.m.
As part of the Oneida Library’s Summer Reading Program, children 6 to 14 years old will begin rehearsals on July 6 for a production of a play about bullying called “Dare and Double Dare” under the direction of Tom Lemery. The group meets Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday mornings through August 5. The play’s performance will be August 6. Registration is required.

Friends of Oneida Library Meeting
Tuesday at 6 p.m.
The Friends of the Oneida Public Library will hold a general meeting in the OPL’s Meeting Room.

OPL’s Summer Reading Program: Spider-Man and His Webs
Thursday at 1:30 p.m.
With the Summer Reading Program theme of “every hero has a story,” Oneida Library’s Youth Librarian Michele Ryan leads a program in the science behind the web-making powers of the comic-book hero Spider-Man, followed by a professional actor’s portrayal of the super hero.
July 9
Book Talk with Almondie Shampine
Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Durhamville author Almondie Shampine will present her latest novels for teens and adults (“Glimpses,” “The Reform,” and “The Modules”) for sale and signing. Refreshments will be served.
July 14
OPL Board of Trustees Meeting
Tuesday at 5 p.m.
The Board of Trustees of Oneida Public Library will hold its next meeting onTuesday, July 14, at 5 p.m. in the library’s Local History Room, 220 Broad St., Oneida. The public is invited to attend. The History Room, which is on the library’s lower floor, permits barrier-free access to the physically handicapped.

Book Talk with H. Russell Eastman
Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.
Russell Eastman will present his new book of memoirs and genealogy “From Good Luck Farm,” which chronicles the Eastman family’s time on a Waterville dairy farm. Copies will be available for sale and signing.

Thursday at 7:00 p.m.
For an extra boost in reading skills and just plain fun, educator Elaine Clark hosts the new monthly Pajama Story Hour for 5 to 7 year olds and their parents and guardians.

Friends of the Library Summer Book Sale
Friday and Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Friends of the Oneida Public Library will be offering in the library’s Meeting Room good summertime reading at bargain prizes to benefit the OPL.

Jazz Improvisation Concert with the Monk Rowe Trio
Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
Jazz musician Monk Rowe and members of his Trio will lead a concert of jazz improvisations with the teen and adult musicians who attended his Jazz Improvisation Workshop at the OPL earlier in the day. The concert and workshop are supported by a grant from the New York Council on the Arts as administered by CNY Arts.
