Jamie Notarthomas brings all that and more to Hamilton to the 2015 Arts in the Park summer concert series on Thursday July 16 at 7 p.m.
Since the late 1980s, Notarthomas has been an integral part of the independent underground music scene, performing an average of 200 shows. He seamlessly merges the influences of what he calls the “twelve apostles of rock and roll,” including Lennon, Morrison, Dylan, and Springsteen, with folk traditions, penning original songs tackling themes of love, the environment, socio-political issues, and more.
For more than a decade, Arts in the Park has provided area residents with an opportunity to enjoy free live music and participate in the arts community in the heart of downtown Hamilton. This season’s offerings range from Notarthomas’s folk to rock, to bluegrass, and bluesy Americana to concert band music.
Coming Thursday, July 23 the 40-piece Cazenovia Community Band brings a range of wind ensemble adaptations of marches, show tunes, and both contemporary and classical compositions.
On Thursday, July 30 the locally known bluegrass foursome Cincinnati Creek will bring their soaring harmonies and sweet front-porch picking to the village green.
Continuing into August, Arts in the Park will bring the Monk Rowe Trio with the Roots of Rock & Roll, covering the 25 years of early rock and roll, from Chuck Berry to Carl Perkins, “In the Mood to Great Balls of Fire,” on Aug.6.
Closing out the summer concert series, fast-emerging indie trio Shivering Timbers from Akron, Ohio will travel through with their ethereal Americana harmonies and bluesy punk sensibilities to the green on Thursday, Aug. 13.
Bring a blanket or lawn chair. The rain location is the Colgate Inn on the village green for all shows –except July 23 Cazenovia Community Band, because the band is so large they will need a rain date of Aug. 20.
Hamilton Arts in the Park is presented by the Village of Hamilton and co-presented by the Earlville Opera House.
