History logo(Madison, NY – Aug. 2015) The Town of Madison Historical Society speaker program features Elizabeth “Perk” Stalter, town of Brookfield Historian Monday Aug. 17 at the Madison Historical Society, 3606 South St. in Madison at 7:30 p.m.

Perk lived in Doodletown, NY and will describe its history during the Revolutionary War and what it was like to live there in the 1950s, including her daughter’s encounter with a rattlesnake.

Doodletown was a lively community that was taken over by the State of New York in order to form a park.

Perk wrote a book about it that is due for a reprinting soon.

The public is invited to hear Perk speak.

Refreshments will be available.

The program is free but donations are accepted.
