(Oneida, NY – Sept. 2015) Ready to give the scoop on the origins of Upstate’s many local specialty foods, Chuck D’Imperio, author of several entertaining books on Upstate New York lore, will present at Oneida Public Library on Tuesday evening Sept. 15 at 6:30 p.m. his latest book “A Taste of Upstate New York.”

D’Imperio cross-crossed Upstate to track down the origins of local specialties, ranging from Buffalo’s famed chicken wings to Thousand Island dressing to Saratoga potato chips. Among the 40 different foods he profiles are well-known brand names like Philadelphia Cream Cheese produced in Lowville and Grandma Brown’s Baked Beans out of Mexico.

Along the way, D’Imperio introduces his readers to the colorful characters connected to making of his iconic foods, such as “The Grape Pie Queen” and the “Catskill’s Candy Cane King.”

D’Imperio is the well-known author of several other books on Upstate treasures: “Unknown Museums of Upstate New York,” “Monumental New York: A Guide to 30 Iconic Memorials in Upstate New York,” “Great Graves of Upstate New York” and “My Town Is a Cathedral: My Memories of Sidney.”

Copies of D’Imperio’s “A Taste of Upstate New York” will be available for purchase and signing by the author.
