(Wampsville, NY – Oct. 2015) Madison County Sheriff’s Investigators arrested a Camillus woman for welfare fraud. Nicole Sinda, 29, of Camillus was charged with the following:
Fourth-degree Welfare fraud, a class E Felony; first-degree Offering a false instrument for filing, a class E Felony and third-degree Perjury, a class A Misdemeanor.
On Sept. 9 Madison County Sheriff’s Office opened an investigation into welfare fraud. The investigation revealed Sinda had been collecting public assistance benefits from Madison County while residing in Onondaga County.
It is estimated that Sinda received an overpayment of $1,071 in public assistance benefits. If convicted, Sinda could face up to 4 years in state prison for the welfare fraud charge, 1 year in jail for the offering a false instrument for filing charge and 1 year in jail for the perjury charge.
Sinda was issued appearance tickets for the above listed charges and directed to appear in the Town of Lenox Court Oct. 20.
