state-police-seal-150x150One car crash leads to DWI charge in Oneida Castle

(Town of Vernon, NY – Jan. 14, 2016) Oneida-based state police charged a Durhamville man with DWI following a property damage accident in the Town of Vernon Saturday evening.

At approximately 9:10 p.m. Jan. 9 state police were dispatched to investigate a one vehicle crash on State Route 5 near High Bridge Road in the Town of Vernon.  Upon arrival, troopers found that a 2015 GMC Denali had left the roadway and struck a guiderail on the north side of the road.

Witnesses advised the troopers that two men were seen leaving the scene on foot heading west towards the Village of Oneida Castle.  Troopers were able to locate the driver Joshua M. Kinney, 35, of Irish Ridge Road, Durhamville and his 30 year old male passenger at a nearby residence.

Upon interviewing Kinney and having him perform field sobriety tests, it was determined that he was intoxicated.

Kinney was taken into custody and transported to the SP Oneida barracks for processing.  A breath test determined that Kinney’s blood alcohol content was .18 percent.  Kinney was issued traffic tickets for driving while intoxicated, Aggravated DWI with a BAC of .18 percent or greater, refusal to submit to a breath screen and moving from lane unsafely and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Vernon Court on Jan. 27.

Verona traffic stop leads to DWI charge

(Town of Verona, NY – Jan. 14, 2016) Oneida based state police charged a Sherrill woman with DWI following a traffic stop on Beacon Light Road in Verona Monday evening.

At approximately 8 p.m. Jan. 11 Trooper Steven Fountain was patrolling northbound on Beacon Light Road in the Town of Verona when he observed a 2016 Ford Escape travelling northbound in front of his patrol vehicle repeatedly swerving across the center line of the roadway for no apparent reason.  Trooper Fountain stopped the vehicle and interviewed the driver, Susan C. Richmond, 54, of Kinsley Street, Sherrill. Richmond had a strong odor of alcoholic beverage on her breath and was asked to perform field sobriety tests, which indicated that she was intoxicated.

Richmond was taken into custody and transported to the SP Oneida barracks, where a breath test determined her blood alcohol content to be .15 percent.

Richmond was issued traffic tickets for DWI, Driving with a BAC of .08 percent or greater and failure to keep right and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Verona Court Jan. 26.
