Ready To Read

Tuesday at 10:00 a.m.

Children up to 2 years old will enjoy rhymes, songs, fingerplay, crafts and stories in an early-literacy program led by Youth Librarian Michele Ryan.

Library Vote

Tuesday from 12:00 noon until 9:00 p.m.

Registered voters residing in the Oneida Public Library Special Library District, co-terminous with the Oneida City School District, may vote for candidates for the library board’s one open seat and vote on the proposed library operating budget for the upcoming fiscal year (July 1, 2016-June 30, 2017).

Tax Help for Seniors

Wednesday, 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon

IRS certified volunteers under the auspices of Cornell Co-operative Extension will provide free tax help and electronic filing to seniors on a first-come, first-served basis. Seniors should bring all their pertinent tax documents with them. Tax Help at the OPL continues Monday and Wednesday mornings throughApril 13.

Wednesday from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m.

Volunteer technical advisors will be on hand to help device and laptop users set up, adapt and get the most out of their devices. No appointment is needed.

OPL Board Meeting

Wednesday at 5 p.m.

The Board of Trustees of Oneida Public Library will hold its next meeting on Wednesday, March 2, at5:00 p.m. in the library’s local History Room, 220 Broad St., Oneida. The public is invited to attend. The History Room permits barrier-free access to the physically handicapped.

Puppy Dog Tales

Thursday at 10:00 a.m.

Children aged 3-4 years can join Librarian Michele Ryan and their small furry friends from Wanderers’ Rest Humane Society for stories, songs, crafts and activities to boost pre-reading skills.

March 5

Thirsty Ragtime Trio

Saturday at 2:00 p.m.

The Thirsty Ragtime Trio will perform ragtime, stomps and boogie-woogie music in a free concert. The trio features Dave Liddy on piano, Steve Quenneville on guitar and Mark Tiffault on drums.

AARP’S Driver Safety Program

Monday and Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

An AARP trained instructor offers a two-day drivers’ safety class for potential discounts in car insurance. To register, call Diane Meyers at 315-363-6154.

To celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, Librarian Michele Ryan and her small furry friends from Wanderers’ Rest Humane Society invite preschoolers and their parents or guardians to a party with Irish stories, songs, crafts and activities. Refreshments will be served.

Itty Bitty Einsteins

Thursday at 7:00 p.m.

Parents can give their preschoolers and kindergartners a playful incentive to learn about science by bringing them to a new monthly program run by Elaine Clark for the budding Einsteins of the 21st century.

Friends’ Spring Book Sale

Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The Friends of the Oneida Public Library offer at bargain prices the best of the books donated by community members, from current bestsellers to classic titles. All proceeds benefit the OPL.
