3-15 Through the Eyes of a Bird, March 24Have you ever wondered what it is like to see the world from a bird’s perspective? While some may think this means looking down on the earth from a high altitude, such as out of a plane window, there is actually more to it than that. In addition to the “birds eye view” they are able to enjoy, our avian friends also possess the ability to perceive certain ultraviolet wavelengths that people cannot.

Join Friends of Rogers on March 24 to view your surroundings “Through the Eyes of a Bird.” During this program, guests will have the opportunity to see the world through the perspective of a bird, while learning how they utilize their unique sense of vision to their advantage every day.

“Humans only have three primary color receptors ─ red, green and blue,” said Environmental Educator Sarah Freedman. “Birds, whose eyesight is two to three times better than humans, have a fourth receptor that allows them to see things we can’t.”

“Through the Eyes of a Bird” will take place from 6:30-8 p.m. in Bird Cabin right off state Route 80 in Sherburne. Pre-registration, at $2 for members and $3 for not-yet-members, is highly recommended. Rogers Center is operated by Friends of Rogers Environmental Education Center, Inc., a nonprofit organization that offers educational programs for people of all ages. Seasonal hours are from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday, and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday.
