(Eaton) Madison County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested James Gorman, 24, of Hamilton, charging him with driving while intoxicated (unclassified misdemeanor), aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child passenger less than 16 years of age (E Felony), aggravated driving while intoxicated – BAC of .18 or more (unclassified misdemeanor), endangering the welfare of a child (class A misdemeanor) and operating a motor vehicle without an inspection certificate (traffic infraction).
While on routine patrol on State Route 26 in Eaton March 27, Madison County Sheriff’s Deputy Matthew White observed a passing vehicle that had no inspection sticker displayed in its windshield. White stopped the vehicle a short time later and, through further investigation, determined that Gorman was operating the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.
Two children, ages 8 and 10, were in the back seat of the vehicle. The children were later turned over to the care of an adult relative and a mandated report was made to Child Protective Services.
Gorman was arraigned at Eaton Town Court Sunday afternoon and released on his own recognizance.
