Utica Zoo’s annual Earth Day event presented by Oneida-Herkimer Solid Waste Authority is Saturday, April 30, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Utica Zoo. Gates open at 10 a.m. Free paper shredding provided by CONFIDATA/Empire Recycling from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. near the parking lot. Make sure to bring your old files!
Central New York Conservancy will be planting trees at the Utica Zoo to commemorate Arbor Day. Folk singer/song writer Peggy Lynn will be performing her interactive biosongs at 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. in the Walmart Amphitheater. The first 50 families will receive a free tree sapling for planting. Families and children can participate in animal meet & greets, activities, and games.
Meet Smokey Bear and learn all about protecting local forest habitats. Voss’ food and drink stand will be open from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. serving hot dogs, hamburgers and all the local favorites. Voss’ is cash only with ATM on site. Earth Day is a regular admission event. Utica Zoo members get in free. Earth friendly, family owned vendors and informational booths: 4-H, Adirondack Museum, Bardwell Farms, Candy Jar Confections, CNY Conservancy, Huckleberry Hill Soap Co., Mr. Nutty, Oneida-Herkimer Solid Waste Authority, Sweet Indulgence, Three Sisters Creations, US Forest Service, and Weekend Creations.
