photoTo the MCS Voters:

My name is Stephanie Clark-Tanner. I am a lifelong resident of the Madison Central School District, and a 1989 graduate of MCS. My grandfather, Bazil Ames, was the school’s first supervising principal, and my family, from my grandparents right down to my own children – have attended this school. As such, it holds a very special place in my heart.

When I first ran for the Board of Education four years ago, I did so with one purpose in mind – to create an environment that was the best possible place for children to learn and grow, including my own. We were facing trying times due to the economic hardships our entire nation faced in 2009. As part of the school board, I hoped I could help turn our district around for our students, faculty and staff. Over the course of four years, the gains and the growth made by our district have exceeded my expectations.

With the addition of our distance-learning lab, we are now able to offer students numerous advanced courses. Because of this, many of our students will graduate with enough credits to satisfy the requirements of a two-year college degree. Grant funding received this year will allow us to create a second distance-learning lab, providing more opportunities for our students. We have also created a full-day pre-kindergarten, which has helped our youngest students have the opportunity for enhanced socialization, learning, and growing, as well as a summer enrichment program for K-8 students.

I am proud to serve my community on the MCS Board of Education, and I’m proud of the growth our school has seen over the last four years. We have made great strides in improving programming, our building, and our sense of community; all while keeping in mind the taxation and fiscal health of our district. My hope is to bring our school district to its full fruition, and truly make our school the heart of our community. My sincere thanks for your support.
