Oneida City Police assisted  the New York State Parole Office with a residential inspection of a parolee at 118 Phelps St., Apt. No. 4, Oneida, Friday, May 6.

Evidence of illegal drug activity was discovered,  and a search warrant was obtained and executed at the residence. Police found a quantity of heroin packaged for sale, methamphetamine, Suboxone, drug paraphernalia, hypodermic needles, additional packaging materials and other prescription medications.

Arrested were Michelle L. Burns, 32, West Elm Street, Oneida; and Steven J. Hirsch, 28, North Street, Oneida. Both were charged with one count of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance – intent to sell, a class B

felony; three counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, class A misdemeanors; one count of second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia, a class A misdemeanor; and one count of criminally using a hypodermic instrument, a class A misdemeanor.

Burns was arraigned before Oneida City Court Assistant Judge Michael Misiaszek and committed to Madison County Jail in lieu of bail set at $10,000 cash or $20,000 bond. Hirsch was held without bail and has a pending parole warrant.
