Morrisville students take home honors from Phi Beta Lambda New York State

State Leadership Conference qualifies students for participation in national competition

Morrisville State College students showcased their talents as future business leaders during the New York State Future Business Leaders of America-Phi Beta Lambda (FBLA-PBL)   Conference hosted recently at SUNY Oswego.

Participants in the conference were able to sharpen their core business skills, expand their networks, and partake in business and business-related competitive events.

Following the NYS Leadership Conference, PBL chapters throughout the state held the online competitive events, where students competed in more than 30 categories.  Seven students from MSC were finalists in eight competitive events and are eligible to compete at the FBLA-PBL National Leadership Conference in Atlanta, Ga. this summer:

• Zach Swift, Accounting Principles, 1^st place; Management Concepts, 1^st place. Swift is an accounting student from South New Berlin.
• Dan Hogan, Computer Concepts, 1^st place; Networking Concepts, 1^st place. Hogan is an information technology: network administration student from Gansevoort.
• Shauntea Brown, Computer Concepts, 3^rd place. Brown is an equine student from Clifton, NJ.
• Alex Rivera, Cyber Security, 1^st place; Computer Concepts, 2^nd place. Rivera is an information technology: network administration student from Baldwinsville.
• Jessica Chandler, Entrepreneurship Concepts, 2^nd place. She also competed in Organizational Behavior and Leadership. Chandler is a business administration student from Morrisville.
• Nate Wagner, Marketing Concepts, 1^st place; Management Concepts, 2^nd place. Wagner is a technology management/marketing management student from Baldwinsville.
• Alex Walters, Statistical Analysis, 1^st place.  Walters is an accounting student from Chittenango.

Two other students are also eligible to compete at the nationals:

• Alexia Palmer, who competed in Management Concepts and Marketing Concepts, is a bachelor of technology management/marketing management major from New Woodstock.
• Andrew Betros, who competed in Entrepreneurship Concepts, is an entrepreneurship and small business management student from Poughkeepsie.

Also participating in the FBLA-PBL Conference at SUNY Oswego was:

• Charles Ryan, who competed in Marketing Concepts. He is a business administration student from Georgetown.

During the conference, Wagner was elected PBL Marketing Director of the New York State Office.

The event also included workshops presented by various companies throughout Central New York.

In addition to all of their achievements, the MSC-PBL chapter has been involved in numerous leadership and career development programs, and has been active volunteering, participating in fundraising activities, and performing community service.
