On May 11, at approximately 9:40 p.m., State Police stopped a vehicle on I-87 at Exit 23 for a traffic violation. The driver of the vehicle, Michael W. Mayerhofer, 44, of Athens; and his passenger, Candie M. Becker, 30, of Catskill, were found to be in possession of crack-cocaine, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia. Mayerhofer and Becker were both transported and processed at SP Albany.
Mayerhofer was subsequently charged with:
- Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs; a Misdemeanor
- Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 4th Degree; a Class C Felony
- Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 5th Degree; a Class D Felony
- Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree; a Class A Misdemeanor
- Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia in the 2nd Degree; a Class A Misdemeanor
- Unlawful Possession of Marijuana; a Violation
He was arraigned before the City of Albany Court and remanded to the Albany County Jail without bail.
Becker was subsequently charged with:
- Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 4th Degree; a Class C Felony
- Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 5th Degree; a Class D Felony
- Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree; a Class A Misdemeanor
- Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia in the 2nd Degree; a Class A Misdemeanor
- Unlawful Possession of Marijuana; a Violation
She was arraigned before the City of Albany Court and released to the Department of Probation.
