businessThe Madison County Center for Economic Development hosted an Economic Summit on Wednesday, May 11th 2016 at the Colgate Inn in Hamilton.

The Summit featured Economic Development partners from Madison County workforce development, tourism, agriculture, local colleges, hospitals, businesses, Central New York Regional Planning and Development, Center State CEO, and Empire State Development. The event included key note speaker President Randall Van Wagoner of Mohawk Valley Community College.

Speaking topics included, the anticipated workforce needs of our region, an update on Madison County’s strategic economic development plan and the CNY Regional Economic Development Council’s Upstate Revitalization Initiative, tourism, and agriculture economic development initiatives. There were approximately 65 participants in attendance.

“I am excited that we have been able to hold an event here in Madison County that allows for a gathering of so many with a common goal – to make our communities economically vibrant and to attract jobs,” said John Salka, Brookfield town supervisor, Madison County Planning Committee chairman and IDA Finance Committee chairman. “I feel that this is the number one issue for Upstate, and by increasing the opportunities that our wonderful region can offer we improve the quality of life for so many of our citizens.”
