On May 5, at approximately 8:42 p.m., State Police stopped a vehicle on I-87 for multiple traffic violations. The driver of the vehicle, Vanessa DeLeon, 31, of Clifton, N.J., and her passenger, Rafael Santos-Martinez, 40, of Paterson, N.J., were found to be in possession of more than 11 ounces of heroin and a small quantity of marijuana. Both were transported and processed at SP Albany, where they were subsequently charged with:
- Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree; a Class B Felony
- Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree: Intent to Sell; a Class B Felony
- Unlawful Possession of Marijuana; a Violation
DeLeon and Santos-Martinez were arraigned before the Town of New Baltimore Court and remanded to the Greene County Jail in lieu of $100,000 cash bail or $200,000 bond.
