unnamed (1)Thruway Information Center welcomes visitors traveling through NYS
The Scottsville Information Center, located on the NYS Thruway, has opened for the 2016 season. The center is the only stand-alone information center on the New York State Thruway – in a building separate from the rest area.
The building was once The Historic Livingston County Park House, and now houses display racks and a front desk for servicing visitors.
Run by the Finger Lakes Regional Tourism Council – an organization comprised of 14 representatives from each of the counties of the Finger Lakes Vacation Region – the center serves visitors traveling across New York State by providing information on destinations, accommodations, and attractions available to tourists.
Open May 1 through October 31, the Scottsville Information Center employs a staff well-versed in New York State Tourism. Seasoned staff members – called Travel Counselors – welcome visitors driving along I-90 Eastbound who stop at the rest area, located between Rochester exits 46 and 47. Brochures from over 60 individual attractions and destinations, as well as maps and other travel materials, are available at Scottsville.
“Our staff at the information center are the gateway for many tourists entering the Finger Lakes Region and New York State,” says Nicole Mahoney, Regional Director of FLRTC. “They assist over 15,000 visitors who enter into our center each season, from requests as simple as handing out maps to helping plan entire vacations for road-trippers.”
