ChaseHealth Residential and Short Term Rehabilitation Center is proud to announce that one of the two winners of the LeadingAge Employee Distinction Award for the Southern Tier is 22-year employee Melanie Hackett, CNA. As a small, rural, not for profit stand-alone skilled nursing home ChaseHealth is so very pleased that this the second year in a row that a long time employee has been so honored.
The Employee of Distinction Award recognizes the extraordinary dedication of direct services and indirect service staff, not part of the upper management team. These employees are recognized for how they positively affect the quality of life of those served, be it through the manner in which the employee exhibits their commitment/dedication or has been a key leader in a program that has significantly improved the quality of care within their own individual organization.
Some of Mel’s co-workers describe her in the following ways when nominating her for this award; “Mel is the type of person that will look people in the eyes and the sparkle she gives allows individuals to know her heart is full of compassion.” “Mel wholeheartedly understands and acknowledges that the people she cares for are unique individuals and takes the time to know their life stories, experiences, and thoughts.” “Despite facing severe hearing loss, she never hesitates to be the champion for her co-workers, voicing appreciation, acceptance, adaptation, or need be annoyance.” “She never thinks twice about giving feedback to promote positive change and anticipating the needs of others.”
In addition to serving the needs of the residents of ChaseHealth, Mel is also very active in ChaseHealth’s fundraising and public relation events. “She is always the first person to ask where she can assist, giving back even on her off days where she can be seen promoting the values of ChaseHealth in the community at large, no matter what the activity may be. It could be a fundraiser for an employee in need, a craft day with the residents, or a fundraiser for the facility. She is always there.” Other staff members added.
ChaseHealth would like to invite the public to join the residents and staff members at a special ceremony on August 17 th at 11am to celebrate Melanie’s Honor. In addition to having the facility recognize this very special employee, the New York State Legislature will recognize Mel with a presentation of a legislative resolution certificate during this ceremony at ChaseHealth.
All of the staff members and residents are so very proud and pleased to have an employee like Mel; her presence makes the difference in the lives she touches.
