In 2015, more than 150 volunteers painted 16 murals in the city of Utica with a partnership among United Way of the Valley and Greater Utica Area, HomeOwnership Center, Parkway Center and the City of Utica.
This was our third year of graffiti busters to reduce graffiti and bring beauty in the City of Utica.
There have been very few events of graffiti on previous efforts. We recently became aware that someone has spray painted unsightly graffiti on the dinosaur mural at Quinn Park at the corner of Rutger Street and St. Vincent Place. On July 26 (WIC Family Fun Day), families would be gathering in this park for food, fun and education. We simply could not leave the mural destroyed.
A small group of volunteers primed over the black spray paint and touch up the mural, leaving it beautiful for families and residents to enjoy once again.
