Airport officials have been notified by McGuire Air Force Base that they will be conducting training exercises, also known as “touch and goes” with its KC-10 aircraft at Syracuse International Airport late this evening, between the hours of 11:45 p.m. and 1 a.m. Syracuse was chosen because the airfield is large enough to accommodate a KC-10 aircraft with air traffic levels that are moderate at that time, so that normal commercial air traffic operations are least impacted.
Recognizing that this type of aircraft activity late in the evening might cause concern for people who live near the airport, and in an effort to be a good neighbor, the airport wants to be proactive and notify neighbors of the planned training exercises, to avoid alarm or concern.
We appreciate the understanding of our neighbors and their support of our armed forces.
