On Saturday, Oct. 1, at 2 p.m., the Utica Public Library will host the Monk Rowe Quartet as they present “You Create the Concert, Monk Will Bring the Band!”
During this truly unique concert, audience members will select the songs to be performed and assist the band in deciding how they are to be played regarding tempo and highlights. The quartet will welcome audience input on creating a balanced program of blues, jazz, and rock-and-roll.
To enhance the collaboration, band members will call on the audience for rhythmic and vocal contributions. This event will give new meaning to the phrase, “I’m with the band.”
This project is made possible with funds from the Decentralization Program, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature and administered by CNY Arts. The concert is free to the public.
