On July 1st the Literacy Coalition of Madison County New York, (LCMC) welcomed Mike Drahos as it’s interim executive director through December. Mike is the recently retired superintendent from Morrisville-Eaton and has served as the chair of the LCMC Managing Partners for the past six years.

The coalition had its beginnings with a county-wide literacy needs survey in 2009. The LCMC is a consensus building initiative intended to unite the community around the importance of literacy, provide economies of scale to existing organizations to efficiently service those in need, and provide hope to residents for sustainable change and an improved future.

Mike identified the following three goals to achieve during the next four months in a letter to the coalition members; 1) to re-engage all of the member of the coalition, 2) to assist the managing partners in the search for new leadership, and 3) to assist in fund raising efforts for the coalition and it’s mission.

Mike stated, “I look forward to working with all coalition members in an effort to meet our commitment to assist 100% of literacy providers to collaborate in achieving the vision of 100% access to literacy services in Madison County.”

He encourages anyone who would like to be part of this effort to contact him at mrdhope@yahoo.com. More information about the coalition can be found on their website at: http://literacycoalitionmadisoncountyny.org/, or on their Facebook page at: https://www.facebook.com/Literacy-Coalition-of-Madison-County-NY-326679420746598/.
