Every Tuesday at 5 p.m., the Canastota Public Library shows a movie in the Lawson Community Room. These are scheduled for an adult audience. In November, we are showing some classic favorites and the movie themes are political in the beginning of the month and turn more towards the holidays later in the month. The following movies will be shown:
Tuesday, Nov. 8-“The American President” was a 1995 release and stars Michael Douglas, Annette Benning, Martin Sheen and many other talented actors. In this movie, the president has a girlfriend…will he get re-elected? The movie is rated PG-13.
Tuesday, Nov. 15- We continue our political themes with “Mr. Smith Goes to Washington.” In 1939, this classic was released and we continue to enjoy it every time we get to see it! Jimmy Stewart plays a naïve man who is appointed to fill a vacancy in the U.S. Senate. The film also stars Jean Arthur and Claude Rains.
Tuesday, Nov. 22- “Miracle on 34th Street” is sure to get you thinking about the holidays! In this classic, a young lawyer defends an imprisoned Santa. It stars Edmund Given and Maureen O’Hara.
Tuesday, Nov. 29- “It’s a Wonderful Life” from 1946 stars Jimmy Stewart and Donna Reed. In this film, an angel helps a frustrated businessman!
