Man aimed weapon at Sheriff’s Deputies

(Munnsville) What started as an attempt to execute an arrest warrant from Oneida County Family Court late this morning turned into an armed standoff that included a heavy police presence.

Just before 11 AM this morning, Deputies from both Madison and Oneida Counties arrived to a Clearview Drive East residence in Madison County Town of Stockbridge. When they arrived to take Andrew Hadlock, 31 into custody, Hadlock quickly grabbed a rifle from inside his residence, aiming it at the deputies. The deputies immediately retreated and took cover for their safety and called for assistance. Hadlock barricaded himself in his residence.

Stockbridge Valley Central Schools and Ferris Industries were both notified of a serious situation in their area and were placed in lock-out shortly thereafter. Due to the rapidly changing circumstances on the scene, residents in the area were alerted by a reverse-911 alert system, NY ALERT, by the Madison County Department of Emergency Management asking residents to shelter in place, locking their doors and refraining from being near windows until the notice was lifted.

SWAT teams and armored vehicles from Madison County, Oneida County and the NYS Police were activated and responded to the scene. Madison County hostage negotiators established phone contact with Hadlock, who eventually came out of the residence, surrendering to heavily armed officers positioned around the residence. The situation came to a safe conclusion just before 1:30 p.m. this afternoon.

Several charges are pending against Hadlock, who will be arraigned a little later this afternoon in the Stockbridge Town Court. Deputies are preparing to execute a search warrant this afternoon at the residence.
