Gasoline prices in Central New York are down two cents this week, according to AAA Northeast
AAA’s Feb. 20 survey of prices in New York finds self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $2.73 per gallon. The New York price is twenty cents above the national average for regular unleaded of $2.53. A year ago, now, the average price in New York was 26 cents lower at $2.47. “After many months of higher prices motorists are paying a little less this week,” said Ed Welsh, Regional General Manager. “Sluggish demand coupled with growing crude stocks have paused steadily rising oil prices” On the week, crude inventories grew 1.8 million barrels last week according to the federal Energy Information Administration.
The range in prices in the latest AAA survey for unleaded regular is 34 cents, from a low of $2.61 in Saratoga County to a high of $2.90 in Rockland. The Utica – Rome average is at $2.73, right at the New York State average. AAA advises motorists to shop around for the best prices in their area, and to make sure they and their passengers buckle up — every time.
