Oneida woman charged with welfare fraud
Madison County Sheriff’s Office Investigators arrested Savannah L. Day, 21 ,of 1105 Grandmother Moon, Oneida, and charged her with fourth-degree welfare fraud, fourth-degree grand larceny, first-degree offering a false instrument for filing (all class E felonies) and third-degree perjury (class A misdemeanor).
It is alleged that when Day applied for public assistance she knowingly filed fraudulent documentation with the Madison County Department of Social Services. As a result, she obtained $1,313 in public assistance that she would not have received if she had not provided the false documentation.
Day was issued appearance tickets directing her to appear in Lenox Town Court at a later date to answer the charges.
