14-year-old arrested for school violence threat in Oswego County

On Friday, March 23, 2018, State Police in Pulaski received a call from a parent of a Mexico Middle School student who advised that her 12-year-old daughter received a message from an unknown source of a possible school shooting Monday, March 26, 2018, at the Mexico Middle School.

State Police immediately began investigating the threat, which included assistance from the Troop D Computer Crime Unit. As a result of the investigation, a 14-year-old was arrested for one count of third-degree falsely reporting an incident, a class A misdemeanor, and issued an Oswego County Family Court appearance ticket.

The name of the juvenile will not be released due to their age.

State Police will continue to work closely with school officials to insure that teachers, staff and students in the Mexico Central School District have a safe environment in which to be productive educators and learners.
