GSC celebrates Earth Day

An extraordinary Earth Day Extravaganza will be held at the Great Swamp Conservancy, 8375 N. Main St., Canastota, to raise awareness of the earth’s environment and call for protection of our planet. April 22, 2018, is Earth Day, and the GSC will be celebrating with a host of exploring green activities.

Join in for these free activities: wetland yoga, sustainable crafts (build a terrarium, make a tote bag out of a feed bag, paint with mosses, mud and berries), nature games, guest speakers, Boy Scout
Troop 43 encampment and campfire cooking, drum circle, announcement of Arbor Day bookmark contest winners, sustainability 101, composting, the importance of trees (hands-on, plant a tree on GSC grounds), music and more.

This is a free event to remind each of us that saving the environment is everyone’s job. Gaylord Nelson (1916-2005), former governor of Wisconsin and founder of Earth Day said, “The ultimate test of man’s conscience may be his willingness to sacrifice something today for future generations whose words of thanks will not be heard.”

Join in this family fun and educational day that will inspire, build awareness and develop conscious stewardship. This Earth Day, find out what is the Earth to you?
