Herkimer County 4-H members attend STARR Leadership Conference
Autumn Borek and Katie Livingston represented Herkimer County 4-H at the STARR Leadership Conference, held at the New York State Fairgrounds. 4-H educator, Wendy Richardson accompanied them as their chaperone. STARR, also known as the State Teen Action Reps Retreat, is an annual weekend for 4-H teens from across New York State to get together to build leadership skills as well as network with peers and adults from across the state. A total of 201 youth was present from 33 counties across the state.
STARR encompasses the best of team building activities, youth community action & youth adult partnerships in one fun-filled, fast-paced weekend. Participants gain new skills and knowledge by attending workshops of their choice, learning how to “make the best better” and participating in awesome community service activities!
The keynote speaker was Josh Isenhardt; a dynamic and high-energy communicator who is passionate about sharing truth in a simple and impactful way. Through his unique blend of storytelling, object lessons, and hard-hitting principles, Josh challenged the youth to be the generation that makes a change. The sessions and team building were fun and interesting. Katie and Autumn are excited to go back next year.
