Opus Black String Quartet to perform during Music on the Green in Verona
The Three Voices Presbyterian Church will host the Opus Black String Quartet during its annual Music on the Green Concert July 26 at the First Presbyterian Church of Verona.
According to Co-Pastor Peg Ward, the concert will be the headline event during a special evening at the church. A free community dinner will begin at 4:30 p.m.
At 5:30 p.m., the Verona Area Vacation Bible School attendees will offer a special presentation preceding the Opus Black String Quartet Concert.
The Opus Black String Quartet began performing together in 2016. The quartet consists of Liz Friedel and Ally Brown on violin, Allyson Sklar on viola and Kristen Kopf on cello. The four classically trained musicians bring a love of creating alternative music in various forms, presenting songs such as the Beatles classic “Eleanor Rigby,” the theme from “Game of Thrones,” and songs by Queen and Tool on acoustic and electric string instruments.
The group has been heralded for their ability to push classical instruments to new levels.
Opus Black String Quartet’s mission is to inspire musicians, and to share their vast musical repertoire on traditional string instruments.
All four women perform using black carbon fiber instruments.
The public is invited to attend this free evening of fun. In case of rain, the concert will be moved inside the church. The First Presbyterian Church of Verona is located at the corner of Main Street and Rock Road in Verona and is accessible to the physically challenged.
