Nearly 900 students from 19 high schools and BOCES facilities will showcase their talents and brush up on their skills during the SkillsUSA Area II Competition at SUNY Morrisville Friday, Feb. 8, 2019. Contests begin at 9:30 a.m.
In case of inclement weather, the event will be held Friday, March 1.
The annual event features students from technical schools and BOCES programs throughout Central New York competing in more than 60 events within job fields including computers and communications, construction, culinary, health, leadership, mechanics and security and law.
Competitions, judged by SUNY Morrisville faculty, students, and industry and education representatives, expose participants to the college’s one-of-a-kind facilities.
An awards ceremony at 3:30 p.m. will recognize the top three finishers from each contest. Scholarship opportunities are available to SkillsUSA regional participants through the Morrisville Leadership Award.
Following regional conferences, a statewide SkillsUSA competition will be at the New York State Fairgrounds April 24 through 26.
First-place winners from that event will advance to the SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference in Louisville, Kentucky, June 24 through 28.
