SilverwoodClarinetChoir2015(Oneida, NY- Jan. 2015) On Sunday Feb. 1 at 2 p.m. the Oneida Public Library will open its doors for a special free concert by the Silverwood Clarinet Choir performing “A Super Bowl of Sound.”

Pamela Mastrobattisto will conduct a dozen clarinetists in a rousing “pre-game” program of musical selections especially arranged for clarinets, ranging from “The Little Circus” by James Cohn to Mozart’s “Eine Kleine Nachtmusik” to Sousa’s “Stars and Stripes Forever.”

The clarinetists will be playing a full range of instruments: Eb sopranino clarinets, Bb clarinets, alto clarinet, basset horn, bass clarinets, contra alto clarinet, and contrabass clarinet.

The Silverwood Clarinet Choir, founded in 2006, is a group of professional musicians who aim to present the full range of “voices” of a choir with clarinets. The group performs original compositions as well as arrangements of well-known musical works of all styles.

The choir features Sam Beguin, Holly Bossert, Melanie Bulawa, Kathleen Freer, Kenneth Freer, Walter Merriam, Paul DiPastena, Colleen Reynolds, Linda Spinella, Terri Tallman, Jack Tomlinson and, on percussion, Doug DiGennaro. They have appeared in many venues in Onondaga County and Central New York and last performed at the OPL in July 2013.

The library will open at 1:30 p.m. for concert goers. Otherwise, the library will be closed as is usual on Sundays.

For more information about the free concert, call the Oneida Library at 315-363-3050.
