Ready To Read

Tuesday at 10:00 a.m.

This is an early literacy program of rhymes, songs, fingerplay and stories that will help children from birth through two years old to develop pre-reading skills.

Tech Help
Wednesday from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m.
Volunteer tech advisors will be on hand to help users set up and adapt their devices, from iPads and tablets to smart phones and laptops. No appointment is needed.

President Buchanan and Dred Scott

Thursday at 7:00 p.m.

Historian and educator Tom Henry shows that politics and court decisions really do matter in a timely talk on the “forgotten” James Buchanan, the 15th U.S. president, who together with the U.S. Supreme Court’s disastrous Dred Scott Decision unwittingly led the nation into civil war and the deaths of some 650,000 countrymen.

June 16

Greene Smith and the Wild Life

Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.

Dr. Norman Dann, professor emeritus of Morrisville State College, will discuss the subject of his latest book, Greene Smith, the brilliant but short-lived son of Gerrit Smith best known in his time as a naturalist and outdoor sportsman. Copies of his book, “Greene Smith and the WildLife,” will be available for sale and signing by the  author.

Pajama Story Hour

Thursday at 7:00 p.m.

For an extra boost in reading skills and just plain fun, educator Elaine Clark hosts the new monthly Pajama Story Hour for 5 to 7 year olds and their parents and guardians.

A McCarthy Family Concert

Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.

Oneida Library invites the whole family to a free concert of popular songs and Irish favorites by the McCarthy Family, well known for their lilting three-part harmonies. The concert features Jim McCarthy on guitar, his wife Deirdre on concertina and tin whistle and their son Shane on guitar and mandolin.

AARP Drivers’ Class

Monday and Tuesday, 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

The AARP offers its Drivers’ Safety Class to licensed drivers 50 years and older for potential discounts in car insurance. To register, call Bob Fish at 363-0455.

July 1

Independence Day Celebration
Friday and Saturday
Oneida Library will be closed both Friday, July 3, and Saturday, July 4, to celebrate Independence Day. The library will be open as usual  on Monday, July 6 at 9 a.m.
