(Cazenovia, NY – Aug. 2015) The current interest in cooking, traditional foodways and dining customs is reflected in popular culture today through the widespread availability of culinary magazines, television shows, how-to entertainment books and syndicated columns. Capturing that spirit in Cazenovia, the Friends of Lorenzo have helped to make a special ’15-’16 dining exhibit and companion program in September possible.

“Dinner is Served! Exploring the Culinary Arts at Lorenzo” is presently on view at Lorenzo. Displays throughout the mansion explore historic cooking and food preservation techniques, fashionable dining practices and table etiquette.

In conjunction with “Dinner is Served!,” a free,  illustrated talk about “100 Years of Change in the Kitchen” will be offered by the Lorenzo Docent Corps on Monday Sept. 14 at 12:30 p.m. in the Community Room of the Cazenovia Public Library.

Presented by Lynne Belluscio, executive director of LeRoy Historical Society and former special events coordinator at Genesee Country Museum, the talk  will draw upon her three-plus decades of experience in the research, documentation and interpretation of traditional American cooking methods.

For more information about viewing “Dinner is Served!” or attending the free presentation, contact exhibit curator Jackie Roshia at 315-655-3200.

Incorporated in 1975, The Friends of Lorenzo support: restoration, educational and community programs at Lorenzo State Historic Site.
