Get your clubs ready! The Putt for Pups Golf Outing presented by Staffworks to benefit the animals of the Stevens-Swan Humane Society will be held Saturday, July 20, 2019, at Valley View Golf Course.
Event Chairs Dave and Renee Longeretta, Law Office of David A. Longeretta PLLC and their committee welcome players of all skill levels for this fun event. It will be a day of fun in the sun to benefit the in-need animals in our community.
Stevens-Swan Humane Society is a local 501c3 organization with an annual budget exceeding over one million dollars. It is only through the generosity of our community that SSHS can continue their mission and care for the homeless, abused, and neglected animals throughout Oneida County.
On average Stevens-Swan Humane Society cares for 85 dogs and 200 cats a day. Each of these nearly 300 animals come with their own unique story and background. China and Tootsie are two dogs currently awaiting their forever homes and are no exception to this.
China is a 5 year old Pit mix who came to SSHS in April of 2018. China has been through a lot in her 5 years of life and she has the scars to prove it. During a domestic dispute, China stepped in to protect her owner and she was stabbed. She was quickly taken to the vet to be stitched up and has been under the care of Stevens-Swan Humane Society ever since. China is the true definition of loyalty, and in this case, woman’s best friend. The aftermath of her stressful past and her long stay at the shelter has had some lasting effects on China. China is about as protective and loyal as they come and would make a great companion.
Tootsie joined the family at SSHS in December of 2017. Tootsie was brought to SSHS by her owner for barking too much. The owner told the staff that Tootsie was spending most of her time in her home with her mouth taped shut to keep her from barking. With Tootsie undergoing such a traumatic life it took some time for her to trust the staff. Tootsie’s story doesn’t end there. A few months into her stay at SSHS she had to have emergency surgery to save her life after ingesting a blanket in her kennel. At 2 1/2 years old Tootsie has definitely had her fair share of trauma and deserves a patient and loving home.
China and Tootsie are two of the more than 2,000 stray and abandoned animals that the Stevens-Swan Humane Society cares for each and every year. SSHS relies solely on donations to be able provide food, shelter, and veterinary care amongst the day to day expenses and to even turn the lights on every day.
All proceeds from the Putts for Pups Golf Outing will benefit the animals of the Stevens-Swan Humane Society while they await their forever homes.
