(Norwich, NY – Jan. 2013) The public is invited to the fourth film of the 2012-13 “Second Tuesday Monthly Film Series” at 7 p.m. Tuesday Jan. 8, in the Founders’ Room at the United Church of Christ, 11 W. Main St., Norwich.
This documentary, “Genetic Roulette; the Gamble of Our Lives” educates the viewer about GMOs—-genetically modified organisms, which are biologically engineered food crops such as corn, soybeans, sugar beets and canola. These are currently being used in many common grocery products and there is growing concern that they may be causing rising disease rates in the US population, especially among children.
This free monthly film event for the public which focuses on pertinent social justice and environmental issues is funded and co-sponsored by Chenango Peace Action and C-CARE (Chenango Community Action for Renewable Energy, <www.chenangocare.org>).
As has been the usual format for this annual film series, which runs through June, attendees are invited to come at 6:30 p.m. for supper and socialization, and to stay after to share in the discussion generated by the film.
Handouts of related information are also often available for attendees.
Please note parking is available on the street, in Hayes Street and County Office Building lots but not in the church’s lot in back.
